China Risun's Fourth High Purified Hydrogen Production Line Successfully Produces Hydrogen

 (Hong Kong, 3 April 2024) ─ China Risun Group Limited (“China Risun”, or the “Group”, stock code: 1907.HK), a leading global integrated coke, coking chemicals and refined chemicals producer and supplier and relevant operation management services provider in Chin, announced that its fourth high purified hydrogen production line, the hydrogen production and filling station in Huhhot Production Base, has successfully completed the first hydrogen refueling process, with a filling capacity of 5,315 standard cubic feet. This marks the official launch of China Risun's hydrogen energy business in Huhhot Production Base, which is also an important part of the strategic development of China Risun's overall industrial layout. China Risun has become the largest hydrogen supplier in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, with the capacity to produce up to 24 tonnes of high purified hydrogen per day. The Group has entered the hydrogen energy market in Hohhot, Baotou, Ordos and Wuhai, and its entire hydrogen energy industry chain business covers the North China Plain, and has been further expanded. This has laid the foundation and provided sufficient conditions for the subsequent integrated and scalable development of China Risun’s hydrogen energy ecosystem and “West-to-East Hydrogen Transmission”, which aims to supply high-quality green energy to the hydrogen consumption cluster.

In 2022, the General Office of the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region issued the “Opinions on Promoting the High-Quality Development of the Hydrogen Energy Industry”, which clarified that by 2025, the region will be able to produce more than 500,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year, construct more than 100 hydrogen refueling stations, utilize more than 5,000 hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks, and create more than 10 demonstration applications of green hydrogen in the fields of chemical industry, metallurgy, decentralized power generation, and combined heat and power supply. China Risun’s Huhhot Production Base is committed to promoting the development of the hydrogen energy industry while facilitating to the overall deployment of Risun Hydrogen. The Group has leveraged the modern coal chemical circular economy park built in Inner Mongolia in 2019 to expand the existing coking and hydrogen production project with an annual production capacity of 3.6 million tonnes, and accelerate the development of the hydrogen energy industry in accordance with the plans for new coking and refined chemical projects approved by the Autonomous Region. Through the demonstration of hydrogen refueling station construction, the Group has actively participated in the development of the hydrogen energy industry in the Autonomous Region. It seized key opportunities to secure its leading position in the refined chemicals, new materials, and new energy industries by building a large-scale integrated green circular industrial park for refined chemicals, new materials and new energy.

The capacity of Risun Group’s PSA hydrogen production plant at the Huhhot Production Base is 5,000 standard cubic feet per hour. It is also equipped with a hydrogen production loading station with a filling capacity of 1,000 standard cubic feet per hour. The raw gas for hydrogen production is mainly decarbonized gas. By adopting the advanced RPSA gas separation system, the pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process can selectively adsorb separated gases under different pressures with the use of adsorbents. The compact and skid-mounted RPSA gas separation system occupies only a small area but boasts excellent performance, high recovery rate, reliability and maneuverability, and low energy consumption. It can produce high purified hydrogen with purity of not less than 99.999% and provide clean energy for industries such as chemical, metallurgical, and transportation. 

According to Risun Group’s “Hydrogen Energy Development Plan" and annual plan, Risun Hydrogen intends to establish four hydrogen guarantee bases in Dingzhou, Xingtai, Tangshan and Huhhot in 2024 to realize continuous growth in hydrogen sales. The commissioning of the high purified hydrogen plant at the Group’s Huhhot Production Base is a good start for Risun Hydrogen’s development this year. Looking ahead, the Company will adhere to the principle of “expanding the market for by-product hydrogen and gradually replacing it with green hydrogen” and expand the production capacity of high purified hydrogen to 34 tonnes per day. At the same time, it plans to construct green hydrogen projects in phases and gradually build a green hydrogen production capacity of 5,000 tonnes per year. As for the Group’s Huhhot Production Base, it can take advantage of its abundant renewable resources and green energy indicators to accelerate the deployment of green hydrogen production lines, cooperate with the chemical sector to produce products such as green ammonia/low-carbon ammonia, green alcohol/low-carbon alcohol, and low-carbon compound fertilizer to realize carbon sequestration with chemicals and materials, and comprehensively drive green and low-carbon development at the production base.

The hydrogen energy business at the Group’s Huhhot Production Base has shown rapid and efficient development. In the near term, the production base plans to use its abundant low-cost hydrogen resources to expand the production of high purified hydrogen, facilitate rational deployment and build 10 integrated four-in-one hydrogen, power, oil and gas energy stations, and encourage the hydrogen energy market to actively conduct green hydrogen liquefaction demonstration. These multi-dimensional and joint efforts will support the construction of a hydrogen energy guarantee and supply center in Huhhot, and expand and optimize the overall strategic layout of Risun Hydrogen.
